My mate and I starte a spinning class last week. (Cycling for an hour with disco lights!) The only thing is, for about 3 days after I had 2 bruises on my bum from the saddle! Everything was set up ok. But it was like sitting on concrete! I amd going to but some padded cycling shorts but dont have time to get some before tonights session! Any ideas of what I could use to cushion my bum??!!!

Thanks! x

You obviously have a very delicate bum! don't know how partical these are, but here are my ideas anyway:

1. stick a couple of sponges down your pants

2. tie a cushion onto the saddle

3. errrm... thats it i'm afraid!

The only thing is - the workout is quite intensive and involves a lot of standing up and sitting down - I think the cushion might fall off!!!

Thanks Hannahjo

Are you sure it's not just your backside turning into buns of steel?!!! Muscles hurt when they have only just started to be used...

Good on you though, those classes look well intense!

Hmmmm. Sponges it is then!

I've always kept fit so its not the muscle - its the actual bone! Ahh the thought of going tonight and not being able to sit down at work tomorrow doesnt sound good!
hi... i'm doing a spinning class for the first time tomorrow night but have never done it before.... what exactly does it involve?? why do you have to keep sitting and standing???

Hi Lisa.

You're basically on a bike. The lights go out and have disco lights - and music! You are asked to turn the resistance up - to make it seem like you are hill training. In parts of it - with the beat of the music - you stand up and cycle for 4 beats and the sit down and cycle for 4 beats.

Its really good! You'll really enjoy it!

Make sure you take a towel and water though!

It does get better - honest.  Next time it shouldn;'t hurt so much and once you go regularly (I'm told, I never managed it!) you barely feel a thing.  Which probably means you aren't trying hard enough.

its a common problem but your ar*e does toughen up to it.

meantime, loads of people at my class bring their own seat pad that stretches around the spin bike pad - apparently commonly available in sports shops.

you aint alone with your sensitive rear
