mum has been quoted £3,000 for a new boiler

Bernie's right ZeeZee ................. modern condensing boilers are around for well under a thousand. My plumber (nowhere near the cheapest) fitted one for a friend of mine for just over 2,000 plus tax ........... BG wanted 3,500!!

I quite agree with you, Butch. I've manage to do a bit of plumbing - replacing some washers and attaching washing machine connections,and painting for myself. I'm sure I've saved a lot.
