How can I get the burnt bits off ?

Washing powder (Persil, Bold etc) in the pan with some water and bring to the boil.

What kind of pan is it?
Good old domestos - got that tip from here last week when I burnt my soup!! - scrubbed and scrubbed to no avail - then hay presto - got the advice of the bleach from here and it was gone!!! - cover and let is soak over nite then wash off next day.

Not enough water in the carrots vibra ... it used to be non stick but is quite old now.
Time! Leave to soak overnight.
A.Guest's method worked for me. I put a washing tablet in water and boiled it and left it to simmer for a while.
