Italian graduates

Somewhere I learned that all graduates in Italy, irrespective of discipline studied, are entitled to to honorary title of dottore (Doctor), as are practitioners of medicine in the UK, though very few have a Doctorate. Is this true ?

Don't know, but could well be. The word 'Doctor' simply means teacher.

No, not quite. a degree and postgrad cerificate entitles you to - professore / professoressa, not doctor.
