I have some friends who are moving away. They will be moving into their own home for the first time (they live in Army accommodation at the moment) and I want to buy something for their son (I'll give them some booze). I don't want anything too sentimental but something thoughtful. The only thing I can think of is a name plate for his bedroom door (as it is going to be his proper, forever bedroom). He is six by the way. (PS - I need a quick idea as I am going to theirs next weekend for a night out sort of thing and would like to take the present with me.) Thanks

'Personalised' gifts are,as you've suggested, a great idea for kids.

If not a name plate, how about a mug with his name on it (which, of course, you'll fill with sweets before presenting him with it!).

Thanks Pink - I wanted something that would say 'home' to him. In a lot of rented places you are not allowed to put nails in the walls, etc so I thought he might like that - just got to find one that doesn't look too young (6 year olds are ticky little blighters).
Yes, sounds good - it's a lovely idea.

Cheers all - just got to find one that doesn't look too cheesy. On EBay at the moment (not big on proper shopping at real shops due to little ones).

The personalised things take ages to come - may have to brave the real shops (can't think of any where I live that would do them - need NoM or Benny3008 to help me really).
If you can't find any in your local shops, sometimes garden centres do personalised items for kids, so if you have any near you it may be worth having a look :o)
Clintons may have them if you have one of those near you,
There's some boy-type ones here on Amazon, sherrard, take a peep: https://www.amazon.co...ns&sprefix=door+signs
A lot of the greetings card shoppies do ready made personalised nameplates.
