My electric shower box is dripping cold water from under the unit when the shower is on. I phoned the shower people and they said I shouldn't use it as it is dangerous! However I don't want to smell tomorrow- I have to shower. I have the plumber coming tomorrow night, but in the meantime I would be very grateful if you could tell me what the problem might be, and if it really is that bad?

Thanks

Is it actually dripping from inside the box or is it condensation dripping from the box or wall?

For heavens sake have a body wash or something. If you've been warned not to use the shower why risk it - unless you think a charred body smells nice?

if its dripping from the shower casing then it may be a  small diaphram which sometimes blows if the pressure gets too much..its just like a  small rubber bung that needs to be replaced ...what make is the shower?

It's a Neptune shower.. The OFF switch stopped working today too! I think it is dead....
Calm down..........just take a cold shower!!

Oh I would love a cold shower- but the shower doesn't work! It;s not the heat of the water that is the problem!

Washed in a jug this morning..

If the shower is dripping only when turned on it sound like a the gland in the tap is leaking or maybe a pipe connection inside the unit.  Sounds like you'll need a plumber.

Good luck

Just incase anyone is still reading this...!

Shower had a broken pressure switch. It was leaking water into the box. Now has been repaired- 53.

Thanks for your advice!xx

Hi there scarlett,

Glad you got the shower fixed! your message on the 15th........washed in a jug this morning, can i ask where you got the jug from? & what size you are? as ive been after a jug like that for years now! im only small myself but all the jugs ive seen are far to small for me to fit in?

Hope you can help me out on this matter :)

I know an electrician, disconnect the fuse, remove cover of shower, tighten cold water feed, this will cure the problem.

L A T E S T  U P D A T E...

Darn- it wasn't fixed. The OFF switch doesn't work. I have to turn the water off at the mains outside the bathroom!! What sort of plumbers become qualified these days??! I mean, it was SO obvious that it wasn't working!

Regarding my jugs, no they are quite small...

If nobody else (like Weebob) volunteers, can I help to wash your jugs?

Scarlett, why don't you just take a bath?  I know it is not as refreshing (or hygienic) as a shower, but it has to be better than washing in a jug!

Failing that, join a gym and use the showers there.
