Why do SOME of the Open Office pps presentations that are sent to me have no sound - when the sender clearly tells me that they should have!!!!
Many are just fine - but is there something I should be doing to turn the music and/or sound ON please!!!

Are they inserting the sound files into the Presentation or just linking the sound files (which are held on their hard drive)?

Now then TTG - good question ! However - as these pps are passed around by email - presumably the sound is inserted into the presentation as some people that get them hear the sound as per normal but SOME of us don't.....but we ALL get reminded to turn up the sound to enjoy the presentation to the full . Which makes me suspect that it is the recipient who has to do something...and some of us silver-surfers are not clued up!
There is no function to turn sound on or off during a slideshow. You need to ensure the sound is going to play before starting the slideshow. This should help:-

Many thanks for that link TTG....I will have a try! It really is very frustrating - especially when you send the pps on by e-mail to other people and it works for most of them when it has remained stubbornly silent for oneself....LOL The mysteries of modern technology !!!
