RBL Remembrance Poppy Brooches for sale on eBay

I heard about this at work today, and makack17's posting reminded me. I think this is profiteering. The brooches are on sale on the poppyshop site from the RBL at £9.99, they've sold out now - delivery not expected until December. In the meantime one has sold on eBay for £195 - there's one there at the moment for £62 with 25% of the sale price going to the RBL. I'm surprised that eBay is allowing it - there have already been several press articles quoting the RBL as asking the sellers to think of them when they profit from selling their commemorative badgers. Selling over the top on rock concert tickets is one thing, this one seems immoral to me. What do you think?

I fail to see the problem to be honest.

Especially if a further 25% is going towards the BL. They've already recieved the initial money from the sale of it, and now another 25% on top.

I see nibble's point - 25% of the profit is going to the RBL but nonetheless, the seller is making 75% profit on the sale of a charity badge. Yes fine if the charity makes a bit more, but it doesn't seem very ethical to me.

well the poppy is meant to be worn in the run up to rememberance sunday,as for profiteeering well theres money to be made everywhere isnt there?? and im afraid greed doesnt stop just because its fo rgood causes im afraid...

If people are stooopid enough to buy them. The RBL have already recieved their initial money, now they're getting a further 25%, I'd have thought they'd be chuffed at that.

I've just looked at two other listings on eBay - one is generously giving the full 100% of the sale to the RBL which is commendable - another one, who is keeping their details private as a private seller, isn't giving the RBL anything at all.

Just thinking as a British Army Veteran, I think people are entitled to purchase the brooches, and IF they want to put them on eBay, however, I feel that as they bought them as a"charitable" donation, then to profit from their charity as a seller on eBay really sicks in my throat!
