Whether he was misquoted or not, I found it fascinating that so many women were angered by it. After all if you substituted "jelly" or "Marmite" for "sex" in the (mis)quote, people might agree or disagree, or accuse him of generalising, but I doubt if they'd get angry.

I found the Oscar Wilde reference paraticularly apposite. Although I have nothing against Stephen Fry, and often find him extremely witty, he does come across sometimes as striving too hard to emulate Oscar, which he will never be able to do to perfection.
