Went shopping today, I love shopping but today TKMax had heating at tropical temperature so uncomfortable had to leave, Superdrug loud music totally unnecessary, stores should be encouraging us to shop not discouraging!

Shopping is ALWAYS a chore (excluding, of course, secondhand bookshops and charity shops!).
Charity shops are taking over my high street.
We never go shopping at the weekend as it's hell. There are far too many people about.

I usually do the shopping in our house for reasons I don't mention on here, but my wife can't usually accompany me. I only go shopping first thing in the morning during the week. There are very few people around at that time - if any - and it's a pleasure to wander around the shops in peace and have no queues. I'm often the only customer in a shop. I / we go to Tescos for grocery shopping every Wednesday morning at about 3am. There's no one in then except the shelf stackers and most of the staff know me now. They show me the latest bargains and deals and always go and find things if they aren't on the shelf or I can't see what I want. They let me use the staff loos to try on clothes and they also have time to chat which no staff do during the daytime. Day staff are completely different and tend to treat everyone like automatons as they deal with hundreds of people every shift. I know some of the night staff by name and some know me by name.

If a store is playing music I often turn around and go elsewhere. Music is a very personal thing and the music played in store is usually chosen by a member of staff who thinks everyone can listen to their taste. I certainly don't want to walk around a store with drum and bass thumping away! I want to shop and think in peace and quiet please!

Shopping is mostly a pleasure, but only when the town and the shops are quiet and I have them to myself.
I detest any shopping which is why I'm thankful for the internet. Had to go to the nurseries for some shrubs today..............in and out in 10 minutes.
I forget that Craft! Yes - we also get many things on-line now. I'll bet the garden centre was busy on a Saturday. You did well staying for ten minutes. I'd take one look then drive away again.
Not too bad Andy............I had checked on-line as to what I wanted before I went to buy them.
Andy, I'd love to do that, but working in the day means I can't go shopping in the middle of the night - and besides, on the times I've been to Tesco out of hours, there's nothing in the cheap pot of short dated items. Means I can afford things like Finest which are normally beyond my pocket - nothing more disappointing that an empty cheap rack (or worse, just some old samosas!)
I've found that 3am is the right time Boxtops as most things are on the shelves then. Before that I often find empty shelves, although the staff are happy to go off and find things for me (I think they welcome the break from shelf-stacking or just standing around with little to do).

I appreciate it's not easy for someone who works during the day and they have to go at busy times. We have circumstances at home that I've never mentioned on here. It's certainly not easy getting through most days but they do mean I can go usually go shopping for us during quiet periods such as the night or mornings. Quite often I just can't cope with crowds as well.
I enjoy shopping in Tesco as long as there are no screaming brats running riot nor any old foggies blocking the aisles cos they`re having a chat. Got the timing right for going to our local Tesco now. I enjoy browsing around town, but definately NOT after September when all the Xmas stuff is in them. I get really annoyed when "normal" stuff is taken off the shelves for Xmas stuff.
