I was sweeping the leaves up in my garden when he said, when you have finished can I lend your broom. I answered who to.

Too doh sticky key.
Disgraceful English. Surely he knows that it should be "have a lend of" ;-)
well done! I hear that all the time and I can't help being sarcastic, I usually reply, 'No but you can borrow it', very often people don't even get it then!
Did you offer to make amends by volunteering to do his 'sweeping-up'?
actually I use a grass rake it's alot more efficient than a broom, try it, asdas sell them for £4.99.

I was sweeping the path dotty. The difference between lend and borrow in the young does my head in. You try to explain it to them and they look at you with the, does it matter.
The answer doesn't make sense to me - Who too????

jem
Jem, it was his grammer that was wrong, he should have asked to 'borrow' it! the owner 'lends' it..................
lol jem, the neighbour asked if he could lend micmak's rake, micmak asked him who the neighbour wanted to lend it to. What the neighbour should have asked was could he borrow the rake. : )

should ot have been 'to whom' - sorry really being pedantic now,
whoops - 'it'
I like pedantic makes sense to me.You're all making out I'm thick or summat!
Even if "Can I borrow your broom" was said his answer was "Who to"?
then he corrected himself and said "too" Sooo I ask again does that make sense to you.
Sotty micmak for correcting your grammer, luv ya really.

jem
Let's be more pedantic, grammar has two As. (sorry welsh, nothing personal, wound up by pedagogy this morning...)

Good on yer micmak, I think your "who to" was right in the first place. You could always have said "who will be the recipient?" LOL.
Mark Rae will be here shortly i suspect....
even worse when then then they say 'can you borrow me it?'
LOL 4get, I've heard that too.
well but prob not a great idea to correct your NDN's grammar....they might decide to correct your windows!!
