Hi, does anyone know how safe the new flu jab is, as it is combined with the swine flu jab? Thanks

bit of a dilemma here - am almost 65 - going to South Africa at the end of November for just over six weeks ( no injections or prophylactics) - do I have a flue jab? Have never had one in my life but have received lots of 'informative literature' from NHS - my gut feeling is no but would welcome opinions.
Had the combined jab on Saturday and just have slight sore arm where needle went in - or possibly where the doctor held me while he swabbed the spot. I bruise easily anyway . My asthmatic daughter in her late 40s has had it,as she is at risk if she gets chest infections as a byproduct of flu, and my son who is 41 and has Myasthenia gravis will have it, as his immune system is shattered.I do find men are terrified of it, but our surgery was jammed with OAPs and people at risk, of both sexes.I have it every year ( am in my 70s) and am pleased with its protection.
the one as cajoled into having this time last year almost killed me, my consultant to this day says I should not be here now, It has also left me with a rogue protein in my blood which could re-activate and most certainly kill me within a few hours. You would have to be insane or harbour a death wish to even contemplate it. Prudentia xxx
