I've got a bout 30 non-rewritable DVDs which I want to throw away. How do I destroy the content please? I've tried to break them, but can't. Not sure that simply scratching them will destroy content. Then how best to dispose of them? Many thanks.

Burn them.
Try harder to break them - use a hammer, drive a car over them, set fire to them ... it's the only way.
Shred them...most modern paper shredders are capable of destroying credit cards and cds etc...
Why would you want to?
I simply use the garden secateurs to cut CDs and DVDs up.

Yes, use a shredder. We only have a cheap one but it has a hole for CD/DVDs

Many thanks for all suggestions. Didn't want to take risk of ruining domestic shredder (solve one problem and end up with another!) but have just tried one and that was okay. Why would I want to? They contain financial and other personal data.
Yes, not all paper shredders are made to cope with plastic and cds ...as Prudie said they would indicate if they could destroy cds/credit cards...

Prudie, Rainbow. Shredder isn't actually shredding them but certainly doing more damage to them than I can manage - bits broken off and gouges front and back. Going to hope that's enough to avoid ID theft. Thanks again.
I cut mine with a pair of strong scissors.

No need to cut them in half, any sort of major cut in the disc renders them useless.
Have you got children or grandchildren? If so, put the discs somewhere safe and tell them not to touch them - sure fire way to get the discs ruined.
I shatter mine by folding in half when COLD with my hand, into the wheelie bin. No-one is going to read them .. even if they have the highest qualifications in superglue.
Send them to my puppy (apparently if I leave her and them in the same room for an hour, she will find ,chew and destroy them all)
