avi to divx

My new Blu-ray player can play in divx format.
but when i convert from avi to divx i keep getting the message format not compatible on my player.
any ideas?

So the format/spec of the file you are making does not match the standard for DIVX.
Some good software (like TMPGenc) has a proper profile so one can apply it to a conversion specifically to play on Home Cinema players.
Whjat prog you actually using? One of those free converters?

yeah i have been using a prog calld Dr divx, its has worked once or twice but most of the time goes unreckognised.
Never worked right that prog.
Try another.
I use TMPGenc a lot. Best there is. But not officially free.
TBH .. Your player should play an avi if the spec is right .. and maybe an mpeg1.
If you're trying anything out, stick at/below 640x480 and mp3 128 sound.
Super is good and free.
