Sorry, didn't read your question properly. Didn't realise you were after an explanation.
I think denquiz gave you that link already, sddsddean and brings no resolution as such.
sorry was typing whilst you were answering.
If you Google 'Maid of Heaven' you will see other names for Joan of Arc listed.
I think that was how she was known in French

Thanks everyone (sddsddean, mamyalynne, DSJ, jno) for your help. Guess this will have to remain unresolved for now!
I'd already googled the Maid of Heaven website (but thanks for reminding me of it, DSJ) but couldn't find anything that fitted the number of letters in the alternative names given for Joan of Arc.
I just don't understand why the answer is 'Jai la pucelle'. I understand the 'La Pucelle' bit (i.e it means 'the Maid') but not the 'Jai' bit, as I thought that means 'I have' rather than 'I am' in French. It comes from Joan's saying ' I have the name of the maid/J'ai nom la pucelle'. Could anyone clarify this for me, please?

Could it be 'nom la pucelle'?
