hi there, im half English and half Japanese. Are there any websites out there that can help me trace the Japanese side of my family? A little more info my father was here during the 70's in london and worked here where he met my mother and had the name "chizuko"
Any advice on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

I have found three yahoo groups that claim to do what you ask

http://groups.yahoo.c...ry=japanese+genealogy

so can only suggest investigating these. Sorry I can't be of more help.
I have no experience of researching Japanese records, but the basis of any genealogical researc is very much the same in all modern countries, and so it is a case of first understanding the systems and records that existed that your family's details would have been recorded in, this forum will probably set you on the right track (as well as Rose's links)

I do hope that you are genuinely interested in genealogical research and are serious about discovering more about your family, did you google a particular word or phrase to actually find yourself at this topic on answerbank? I see you are newly registered, is this your first user name here?

I believe after dealing with your links a good port of call would be to investigate the names of the actors that starred in the film and program, wow i feel excited at the potential of this journey as i feel when you've been lost in life (I've been through a lot) then knowing who you are and where you came from can possibly give you more of a sense of self and perhaps maybe one day i can feel whole again.
Thanks all.

Thanks for the youtube link dotty, I've never heard that before. I was probably still a baby when it was made.
Here's some detail about the Water Margin - scroll down and you will find info about the 1977 TV series. It was very popular http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Margin
yes spot on lan
Lan Shan Po, we are probably not familiar with the structure of your name - most us get our names shortened on AB, what should we call you, is your first name Po?
