I have the date of marriage 20-9-1852 and place.South Leith Middlothian,of Thomas Drummond and Isabella McKay. But am finding it difficult to get back any further, as I can't find his date of birth

Don't know if this is your guy above but a William Drummond married an Ann Groves in North Leith on 17/10/1805.
