what's the easiest and quickest way to become a primary school teacher from HLTA status. do i have to complete a degree first? i know i have to do a PGCE but am unsure how to go about it.

By definition you need a degree in order to take a PGCE. The only other route these days is to do a B.Ed. degree. (Some institutions style it as B.A. (Ed.))
