zero hours contract? how is holiday pay calculated?

If you work zero hours, surely every week is a holiday?
Like bank staff?

Where I use to work you got holiday pay every quarter on the average hours worked.
We pay our bank staff annual leave as ummmm says quarterly based on hours worked.

187.5 / 1950 x the hours employee has worked
This is based on company policy of five weeks holiday and usual FT working week of 37.5 hours (5*37.5 = 187.5) so if your allowance etc is different you'll have to allow for that.

lol i wish everyday was a holiday! the job i do cannot promise hours hence the 0hours contract. which i have red somewhere that they have stopped those type of contracts x
I worked at a cinema and that was a zero hour contract; can't remember how holiday was calculated though, is there anyone you can ask?
I'm unsure about what a zero hours contract is,but where I work part time,my hours are different most weeks.When I took a holiday recently I was paid an average of the previous 12 weeks wages.I don't have a contract at all!
barb you should have one, your employer has a legal responsibility. A zero hours contract is where there are no guaranteed hours. For instance our evening receptionists only work if there are activities on within the building. No activities running, no work.
Holiday pay should be provided at a rate equal to 12.07% of actual pay. i.e, for every £1 of gross pay paid to the employee, the employer should add on 12.07p to their holiday entitlement. Alternative methods of calculation may be used but their effect must not be so as to reduce holiday pay below that calculated by the method I've given.
