We have a north-facing paved garden which gets coated in green algae/moss every winter. I've used a jet washer up to now, but it's very messy. Does anyone know of a chemical or other easier solution?

Have a look in you local garden centre, there a several products sold that will cure your problem.
As Hawkwalk suggests, but save a lot of hard work and use a pump-up sprayer.
Try this, we use it on a number of sites - it works a treat on green algae. http://www.pitchcare....-pro-moss-killer.html
try Armillatox from garden centres
