Retailers appear to do a roaring trade in bottled water .

Here in the West Midlands , water straight from the tap tastes great .
We dont waste money buying the bottled stuff .

1. Where are you located ?
2. What is the water from your tap like ?
3. Do you buy the bottled stuff ?

Berti - yes of course i have got an irish accent - a Northern Irish accent - this is very different from the southern irish accent (think father ted etc).
I too have a norern Ireland accent. Mine has been deepened by years of smoking and drinking(not much water, though) so that now it has a gravelly richness.

Thinking about it now , with respect to different irish people speaking that I have heard , i do see the difference .
1. Where are you located ? SW London
2. What is the water from your tap like ? Hard and heavily chlorinated - the cat doesn't like it much.
3. Do you buy the bottled stuff ? Sometimes

It's worth mentioning that if you live in an area like I do where the water isn't very pure, you can get something much better by boiling it and letting it stand.
lol sandy - i have often been accused of having a 'sore throat'....however, like you, my voice has obviously not be helped by many years of smoking and drinking also.

I shall look out for a rich gravelly voice in the local pubs... it may just be you.... ;-)
west mids, fine, yes as i love sparkling water
"Isn't very pure" isn't very scientific - only double-distilled water comes close to being pure. Boiled water will not be purer- it will have no dissolved gases in it and will taste flat and unpalatable.
