When I flew back from Inverness to Luton airport with the cadets, we were given cartons of orange juice in our pack lunches (so were in our hand luggage), which were 100mls over whatever the limit was but no-one at the airport queried it (should they?)

I was thinking about this yesterday and ended up dreaming about trying to do the same journey, except, we all got arrested at Inverness airport for having liquids over the specified limit in our hand luggage and thus being terrorists.

Should they have taken them off us in real life?

But I don't think they asked me. Like you said with my bag being searched and they didn't confiscate it, they are more relaxed at little airports on a fdomestic flight aswell.
Perhaps they don't think a group of youngsters could have been handed stuff to carry - but they could be wrong!
Yep it's us jno, OH has a beard and an occasional tanned complexion...and a much-used passport due to his job. HoHum!
I've always been asked. So has my daughter and she's been flying on her own since she was 7.
