Due to the massive £6 million policing operation costs,

Plus, the need for all entrances to have search points in a bid to prevent weapons being carried,

Plus, mobile metal detection arches being used at some Tube and Rail stations.

Plus, 350 medical staff from the London Ambulance Service, who could be otherwise more usefully employed.

Plus, a four-week Met Police crackdown ahead of the event which resulted in 101 arrests and the seizure of knives, weapons and drugs.

Plus, the fears of gangs linked to drugs and violence who might clash during the carnival.

Plus, last year more than 200 people were arrested,

Should the Home Secretary also ban this march, perhaps even on health and safety reasons alone?

LOL - I can see him right now, muttering behind his Daily Express brewing up his next load of bile.
GO SWIMMING AOG ! Smoke a big spliff of some good sensimilla!
Don't think I ever claimed to be black SP! There are many colours between black and white you know.
Glastonbury had more arrests with less than a tenth of the number of attendeeds.

I wonder why you didn't jump straight on Answerbank asking for this to be banned on health and safety reasons.
Do people take knives to the London marathon ?

SP, comments like that dont only come from white people. There are others in the world besides white and black. You do seem to have a hang up on it.

OK so rata's do not mug (maybe) but they are certainly notorious for drug use.

"OK so rata's do not mug (maybe) but they are certainly notorious for drug use"

So what?

What's that got to do with mugging?

Okay...that don't mug, but they smoke dope!

Utterly, utterly ********-*****, from a *******

I mis-spoke...I don't know what race you are.

So what's this about a rasta mugathon. What the hell are you talking about? Sound a lot like cobblers...

in fact, put the words 'rastafarian mugger' into a Google search, and let me know what it comes back with.

I tried.

Couldn't find much.

Did you read these facts somewhere?

It's just thick, stupid and insulting. True Rastas are EXTREMELY God-fearing, peaceful and honest people. To tar them with the same brush as 'any black man' (which is what your sly dig is trying to do), just shows up your ignorance.

Do you have any idea how irritating this is?
It seems ironic to me that AOG is calling for a ban on the NH Carnival because of costs, yet demanding the right to march in Bradford, which was HUGELY expensive to police.

It doesn't make sense.

I have no idea...probably not very many.

However, check this out:

http://www.metro.co.u...-worth-100-000-seized

And look at the number of arrests:

http://www.guardian.c...ry-best-michael-eavis

and compare to the number of arrests at Notting Hill:

http://www.24dash.com...lice-make-230-arrests

Perhaps the carnival should be banned because...because...?

...because right-of-centre Little Englanders have a problem with black people. That's what it boils down.

Nothing else.

More people are arrested at Glasto, and believe me - the same amount of drugs are passed around (been to Glastonbury myself), but the bigots will only ever complain about the NHC, because they perceive it as a black event (even though it patently isn't, and hasn't been for decades).

Ignorance...pure and unadulterated ignorance from people who have never been to the NHC.
Well are there any true rasta's I mean actual followers of the Abysinian Prince otherwise known as Ras Tafari? I suspect there are many impersonators.
R1Geezer

I absolutely have no idea what you're talking about now.

Let's just leave it there...you referred to the Notting Hill Carnival as a 'rasta mugathon'. You made a mistake because you don't know much about rastas, and that's perfectly understandable.

...but your wriggling is just embarrassing.
It seems then SP you know less than me about Rastafarians. Read the book, slaves and Ivory. very good and informative.
