possibly "Pensalvania 65000" by the Glen Miller orchestra ??????????

That rings a bell - I've got a feeling I can mentally hear The Andrews Sisters singing it.  I'll have to go and dig out all my old vinyl and see if I can find it - don't wait up tonight!

Funnily enough I put my hand on it almost immediately!  It's actually called "Tallahassee", written by Frank Loesser and recorded by Bing Crosby & THe Andrews Sisters in 1947.  There are no doubt other recordings of it around, too..
Incidentally you can find the full lyric here: www.lyricsdownload.com/the-andrews-sisters-tallahassee-lyrics.html
