Before I took (very) early retirement (on health grounds) from the DWP my job was to calculate amounts of benefit overpaid to people claiming benefit due to them 'forgetting' to tell us about changes in their circumstances.

Most of the people were just trying to increase their income so that they could have a better standard of living.

But many were working full-time (some times for years) and claiming benefits, some owned property and were renting it out and so on.

I have been on incapacity benefit for nearly 7 years. It is not obvious to look at me that I am ill and I am sure that is the case for many people. People get angry when they see somebody who gets benefit for an illness yet seem to have a normal life - but you never really know all the information.

Would I grass on someone - maybe.
why do people assume that jobs at mcdonalds and cleaning jobs are readily available? they have a waiting list, they welcome applications but generally thats the last you hear of the job, you hope that when they are hiring that you may get a call.

its a total myth that people are too proud to do these jobs, the jobs are just not available..
I don't think people are Xaviour...
my taxes don't count? lol
neither does you opinion then
look online or in local job center there is jobs its people to do them i think.sorry but i really got to go or il be late for work and ill be on the dole.
I would, I was on the dole for over 12 months recently and it was the worst time of my life, but at no pint did I do any cash in hand work, I found a job and I qualified for working tax credits, people that sign on and work are greedy thieves and should be taken to task.....
yes and when you have applied for all these local jobs and put your name down in all the big companies and shops and councils they say, thank you we will contact you if there are any vacancies..in the real world there are not loads of jobs that people are too snobby to do., there are hundreds of people applying for 1 job.
well done for finding work, it can take a time when the jobs are not out there
http://www.totaljobs....d=1&clName=Manchester

807 jobs within 5 miles of manchester so i will look at them later like i said jobs are there
go away xavier..you have no idea
Xaviour....and you think those jobs are suitable for everyone?
..........and that everyone is suitable for those jobs ?
I love how people think that the bad spelling can disguise their style
We all moan about this but who is to blame? let's get this in the right prospective, A young mother tries her best to earn because her benefits are cr@p, don't penalise her, help her I'm not talking about the ones that go on the pizzz, we had a bloke in our local town that never worked since I moved here many years ago when he died the lazy b@stard left £10000, again who is to blame? it does sicken you when you see these people stop in bed, go for a pint, go to the bookies, drive cars on their benefits, It's the whole system at fault It does not matter what you say If its there people will take it.
