How can I get my ring cleaned properly...?

Before this descends into smut (because we all know it will...) seriously, I have an emerald & diamond ring - the emerald is scratched on the surface & I want it polished & spruced up as it is my one & only valuable item of jewellery.

Those dip-in pots are no good - they made the emerald go dull - should I take my ring into a local specialist jewellers to have it done properly, or do they just use the same stuff they sell over the counter?

Please - no-one suggest an emery board...

Why - don't you think they would look after it?

I must admit, I am worried they may send mine away - and even though the insurance company would give me the money for a new one - mine has got sentimental value and just couldn't be replaced. I only want it buffing up a bit...
I just think it's such a personal thing, I'd feel a bit anxious letting anyone handle it.

I wouldn't trust just anyone with mine. I wouldn't give it over to any old dick or harry.
Just Tom then eh...
LOL salla

So, how long before we run out of innuendos ...

... or someone posts a "Uranus" thread ?
