I have discovered that the coursework for units 2 and 4 are to be submitted in January and the exams for units 1 and 3 are to take place in May and June. I am doing this via distance learning. Should I begin by studying units 2 and 4 first? TIA

If you're SURE that those dates are correct, it seems obvious that you should prioritise those parts of the course which will be assessed first. (The only exception would be if you're studying a hierarchical subject, such as Mathematics, where you have to study parts of the course in a particular order, as one component builds upon another).

If in doubt about, you can find the relevant dates (for all A level courses, irrespective of the subject or examining body) here:

Thanks Chris, that helps. My tutor has told me to study in the order the course is presented, which doesn't seem right as the final unit is assessed in January. She is aware that I am fast track. I will check out the link you gave.
