My neighbour has a glut of apples and is making apple sauce and freezing it in bags. She asked me if it is possible to freeze raw apple slices. If someone knows, I'll tell her the answer and hope she wants me to share her fruit! TIA.

i know you can buy apple slices so it must be possible
Eating apples don't freeze well, cookers do. You have to blanch the slices (1 - 2 mins), drain and cool. Pack in boxes with sugar between layers. 12 months storage. This from M & S Freezer Handbook.
I don't bother blanching them anymore, I just peel, core and slice and then freeze in a freezer bag, they tend to clump together a bit, but I defrost them before cooking so they eventually separate and I don't put too much in one bag, just what I judge to be right for a crumble or pie etc.
I do the same as Jules at work...we then use the frozen apples for crumbles.
she could core some and dry them in a very low oven - and store them in an air-tight container - reconstitute with juice or water use for stew fruit compote or for mibbling on as a no fat snack!
