I am surprised to see so many new site users who, quite coincidentally, don't know where to put an apostrophe. how strange.

just for the record, an apostrophe generally replaces a missing letter.

for example, "wouldn't". the apostrophe replaces the missing o, as in "would not".

just for all the newbies, you understand ;o)

Mrs RATTER is always correcting my punctuation, I must say I'm not great with punctuation and I do rely on the spell checker, I'm a lazy git really :-)

I can live with it.
Lady...I think there is a different meaning behind this thread. Sara is not the grammar police....I gathered that trolls invaded the site with the same writing style.
Sometimes they are genuine mistakes - in haste I often hit the next key by mistake so I put I;ve instead of I've, but I know I've done it. I don't think it's "snitty" at all (whatever that means!), - punctuation errors are rife in the big world out there and we all do our bit to make things right.
My sister used to campaign on the High Street about Pea's and High Tea's on boards outside shops. If people aren't sure about abbreviations and apostrophes, it's better to leave them out altogether!
Ratter I haven't got a spell checker on here, I wouldn't know where to look for it.
What browser are you using Boxy?

Mark said Chrome has a built in grammar checker....but mine hasn't...unless my grammar is always 100% correct, which is very doubtful.
IE ummm - we had Chrome but we didn't like it at all, so we came back. I'm not too fussed though, I can spell-check on Word documents and that's where I really like to check. Here the odd blooper is just in the spirit of AB!
My spell checker is a google add on I believe, it will spell check anything on any website, forum, Facebook etc.

oh dear, LadyBeth.. you really have missed my point, bless your heart :o)

ummmm, thank you for pointing out the obvious. I feel sure LadyBeth will get back to me later ;o)

"snitty"? I must google that...
Question Author
well, that's not very ladylike, LadyBeth!
sara, that's our Word of the Day then, we really must try to keep up.
I think LadtyBeth could be 'NoWay'

Sorry sara3. I`m a bit guilty of this sometimes when I`m in a hurry to post something before dashing off, I just speed away on the keys.
Am I forgiven ?
Question Author
TO½ (did you like that?), it was only a tongue in cheek poke at yesterday's invasion of multiple usernames ;o)

nothing to forgive!

from Snitty Sara x
Yes I think I saw some of it but just ignored it. Just as well from the sound of it.
