They are everywhere in countless numbers, nobody likes the disgusting creatures, they have no place in our society...seriously, why not put them to use during their miserable lives if animal testing is necessary?

because pigeons can feel fear and pain too!!
Spot on Woofgang, i'd like to add a bit more, but I might offend somone.
Well done Woofgang.    Come to think of it why not test on disgusting humans that are quite plentiful in number and have no place in our society.

I don't like them either but that's down to my fear of birds therefore I'm the one with the problem here not the pigeons. What gives any of us the right to inflict pain on other living creatures?

I'll sit on the same fence as the others who replied to your thread.

They do have a rightful place in our society and who are you to say they have a miserable life?!? I love them because they are the only wild birds I can get close to.
Taking an objective view and not condoning animal testing - because pigeons are not mammals their reactions to tests would not be useful because the results of test wouldn't relate very well to humans.
Pigeons have a place in our military history that should be remembered and rewarded, unlike blue elves.
I think that's a very poor thing to say Pootle.  I don't like to see any sort of creature in pain and personally I don't think they are disgusting, actually I disagree with everything you've said.  Shame on you.

Can only agree with everyone else - pigeons don't harm anyone and deserve to be left in peace.

On the other hand, quite a few humans are a waste of space, contributing nothing to society and making other people's lives a misery - but I still wouldn't advocate experimenting on them!

Hi Delilahcat - I hope people realise I was not serious about testing on the disgusting humans!!  (well, I think I was joking hmmmmmm)
FP, I know you weren't serious, I just had to agree that some people are less useful than pigeons! (But like you, I feel ALMOST inclined to think it's a good idea....)

I agree with all the answers. Particularly cruel is that nasty substance (I hope it's illegal now, but I doubt it) which people used to paint on roofs & balconies to deter pigeons. Oh, it deterred them all right, because it burnt their feet off. Which is why you see so many one-footed urban pigeons.

Funny how animals are always deemed a 'nuisance' or 'vermin' when we have actually encroached on their original territory.

If you substitute the word 'Pigeons' for 'Pikeys' the original question makes a whole lot more sense! Pikeys are everywhere. Nobody likes pikeys. They have no place in our society. Why not put pikeys to use during their miserable lives?

Maybe that's what pootle really meant to say. I know I'd get a warm glowing feeling at the thought of all those pikeys actually doing something worthwhile.
