Hey guys,

So having been made redundant I have finally got my bum in gear and phoned the job centre and done the form things with them and so on.

I have a job seekers interview tomorrow, and just wondering if I actually have to dress like I'm going to a proper interview or not?

Also they have asked for forms of I.D, now I have my driving license, but they say I need 2. The only other one I can think of is a bank statement which I have, but the bank still has my address as my mums, and not where I live now. Can I use it!?

Might me silly questions I know, but this is all new to me!

Ta! :-)

I was in exactly the same position some time ago, first of all dress however you feel comfortable. Secondly, a utility bill as well as a driving licence will sufice. Good luck with the job hunting
Trust me, as a fellow job seeker whatever you wear, you will still be smarter than 65% of the other job seekers.
A passport would also be a good form of ID. Good luck withe the job hunting.

Hey,

Thanks for your quick replies!

Hmm, my passport is at my mums, and I dont pay any utilities to get bills for, this could be a bit tricky!

Ah well, they said if I didnt have 2 forms it may delay my application, but then I was made redundant 5 weeks ago and only just done it now so it is not that urgent!
Birth cert., NHS medical card?

All tucked away nice and organised (which is rare for me!) in a box in a drawer at my mums! Helpful when I dont live there, I know!
OK any of these will do
Credit or Debit, Debit Card; Medical Card, Age ID Card, Work ID Card, Club Membership Card.

Even my P45 and payslips and all that are in my old address as I didnt bother to change my address with payroll as was going to be made redundant, just was then kept on longer then I thought!

Ok, so I shall go casual, and think I will have to head to mums before hand so I can get my passport and birth certificate!

Ta all! :-)
Be prepared to attend courses on how to get back into work. Each one will be more or less the same as the last one, will not help you in any way whatsoever and will be mind crushingly boring over two days.

Funding for any course is pretty scarce now due to massive cut backs

Very true but I've applied for six over the last 8 months and been told 'no way jose'
they will not pay for any kind of training that isnt approved by the jobcentre themselves.
They would give you money towards travel, that sort of thing, if they put you on a traning course to get you back into work. But not for one you find yourself

I wore jeans and a vest top and cardigan, it isnt a job interview, but remember when you do go for any interviews its I 'did' the forms, not I 'done' the forms, Good luck in looking for jobs, I've just got a job after 6 months looking. Ands its bloody typical I have been offered an interview next week too. lol

Hey all,

Thank you very much for your answers.

My OH pointed out that I have my car insurance registered here, so that should count?

As for doing courses, one of my thoughts has been going back to college to pick up studying animal care where I left off 6 years ago, may ask them about that?
