Normal when you see someone for the first time that day or for a longer period of time you say hello to them don't you. But when we went to the parkwe also went to the sailing club and watched some people sail. As we were jsut about leaving, we saw the commodore of the club, for the first time that day, but as we were about to go, I said 'bye' to him, for the last time ever . . . . . . . !

Was it a coincidence? I think normally I would have said 'hi' but for some reason I didn't . . . .

Why for the last time ever?
Question Author
A couple of days later he passed away . . .
how do you know it was the last time ever - has he since died?
Oh..
apologies there were no answers when I read your post - sorry molly

That's ok. A coincidence or what?
you were leaving though, so why would you say anything other than "bye"

chances are you do it all the time but dont realise
why did you not include the fact that he died a couple of days later in your opening post molly?
Question Author
'for the last time ever' kind of suggested it I thought.
Actually no, mooly - he could have been retiring or moving... not passing away. Or you could be leaving that club... we wouldn't know.
Very sad, Molly. Just goes to prove that you should make the most of your friendships whilst you can and always part with friends on a good word - you never know if it will be your last.
Don't read too much into having said "bye" to him , people die all the time , so do not get too upset . The fact that you spoke to him was a good and courteous thing to do.
