Hi All,

I have a couple of ceilings which I am planning to get plastered in the very near future, but I have absolutely no idea of what sort of price I should be paying. The 2 ceilings are identical and are both 3.5M square. I am not sure what condition they are in because they are both currently wallpapered, but I will be removing the wallpaper in a couple of weeks time.

Also, is this a job that could be done in a couple of days?

If anyone can offer any advice, it would be most appreciated.

Whereabouts are you teak?

If you don't know............ how old is the house?

thetruthhurts, I am in Hemel Hempstead, hertfordshire.

The Builder, sorry, not sure if it's Plasterboard or lath, but my house is a standard 1930's semi.

Thank you both.
Ahh............. could be either then.
No matter ........... after removing the paper, a plasterer would give it a coat or two of diluted PVA (depending on porosity).
It could easily be skimmed then with ordinary gypsum finish.
You'd probably pay more in Hemel than down here in Exeter. With a completely cleared-out room, a good plasterer could do it on his own........... one ceiling in the morning and one in the afternoon ............ that's what I would do, and I'm nowhere near fast!
Down here ............. say £180-200 plus materials ................. in Hemel, probably nearer £300 .............. more if he brings a labourer!!

Builder, Thanks for the info, sounds much cheaper than I was expecting.
£200 for my kitchen...was friend of a friend though.

Quoted £500 for hallway, landing and ceiling.
Find a Pole...£50 a room - they'll do it in a day.
Depends on whether its lathe or not.
Mine were lathe and it was £900 to bring both ceilings down and re-instate.Perfectly I have to say only get what you pay for.
Our kitchen was €120 and it is 16 sq metres and the skim cost €30.
