Anyone out there got a spider phobia? I`ve just walked down the narrow, overgrown bit of my back garden to the gate, and walked right into a spider`s web. The web and spider stuck right to the middle of my face. Could be someone`s nightmare!

Oh yes, seriously terrified! A couple of years ago, I had to shout for a neighbour from a bedroom window to remove one from the stairs because I literally couldn't move I was so scared. It was a mega huge beast too. When my neighbour had come in and picked it up in his bare hands (freak out!!) and taken it outside, I sat downstairs and sobbed.
My boyfriend maintains they're more scared of me than I am of them. I could laugh in his face for being so wrong!
Dont bother me that much, how people say they are gargantuan, when they are the size of a walnut ....
Jackie, what you need is a cat, that would have been a nice snack for one of my boys.... don't forget that the spider is probably far more frightened of you, you are a million times bigger than he is!
A friend of mine used to live in Singapore and she got up one night and went down the hall heading for the kitchen to get a drink of water. She trod on something which made a horrible squelching noise and when she screamed and turned the hall light on, she'd trodden on a spider that, once squashed underfoot, was as big as a dinnerplate! I'd have died on the spot!
Nothing to do with spiders, but I got up in the night once and went downstairs to get a drink. I didn't put the light on and had the fright of my life when I put my hand to the tap and found the washbasin absolutely full of black cat, fast asleep.
Lol boxtops....
I wouldn't say it was a phobia but I am scared of them. I get my OH to put 'em in the garden. If he's not in .... I panic. [:o)
I don't mind spiders but my daughter is terrified of them. My phobia is mice, and cockroches. I mean the dinnerplate sized ones when you go abroad. I also hate
woodlice.

That must have been awful walking into a web 237sj.
Wo gran you would not have liked being in my compost bin a few weeks back, I left a bit of bread on the top of the compost, when I next opened the bin the bread was HEAVING with woodlice. Yuck.
I'd better not tell you about my spider experience in the Seychelles then .... ! It was a palm spider, whose bodies are as big as your hand - let alone the legs!
Boxtops, ever since I read something about a spider being controlled totally by a nervous system rather than a brain (or something like that) I have been unable to bring myself to believe he is more afraid of me than I of him. Sorry boy - up the hoover with you!!

Chokkie, I've encountered many like that on my travels - but most have been confined to webs in trees and bushes and have, thankfully, been easy to avoid. It's when they're running around a room, or sitting menacingly on a ceiling waiting to 'get me' I panic. The stupid thing is I know it's stupid, but that changes nothing!! :o)
