they are not referring to monetary investment here...they mean teaching them values, and skills etc, and giving them proper care, instilling a sense of worth...
i believe many schools old fashioned regime is partly to blame...far from the strictness stopping kids misbehaving, it makes many angry, alienated, and feel worthless...so they act up outside...
the parents dont know what to do either because all they have been taught is how to change nappies and the childs gestation period and othe rbiological stuff etc...
my primary school was a bit of a 'hippyish' one...all openplan, relaxed, creative etc...i then went to high school which was considered the worst in the area...and you know what? many of the kids were proud of that accolade...
the difference between the kids from my primary school and the ones from other more traditional schools was very noticable...

This is one of those rare occasions when I'm in agreement with AOG. There are too many people in this country as it is, and it seems that those who really cannot bring up their children to be caring, responsible adults are the ones who have the most of them. Governments have tried various interventions and strategies over the years but they seem to have missed the obvious one.
If you want to show an organisation that you don't like what it's doing then a good way to do it is to boycott them and hit them where it hurts - in their pockets. Perhaps if some people knew that they'd get no further benefits or allowances in respect of third or subsequent children, then they'd think twice about getting some birth control.
After all, it doesn't take a fantastic intellect - you just go to your doctor and tell them you don't want any more kids.

Why is it universal? You could be earning £2million a year and be eligible for child benefit. It makes absolutely no sense.
No - I say phase it out completely and the money saved should then be pumped into the education system.
If you can't afford to have kids, then you should wait until you have sufficient funds to support them.
I know I've temporarily leapt over to the right of AOG, and I too find it weird...but I've always thought that about child benefit.
