Could someone tell me how I would go about getting something onto eBay? I have never done anything like this before so am completely clueless. Do you need an account, etc.?

You do open an account, but that's free and easy.

For payments, you'd be advised to open a pypal account, (you can do it through ebay). You'll need a creditcard.

Spend some time looking through the help pages on ebay - they are pretty good.

Or you could use something simpler like www.admarket.co.uk or loot.co.uk. No subscription but less traffic though.
