I recently saw the start of an episode of Grey's anatomy, a show I don't usually watch. There was a christmas tune playing in the background. All I remember ios that there featuire lots of piano, a jazzy/swing feel in the arrangement and the female vocals sounded like broadcast/stereolab/ladytron. It was quite hypnotic!

I caught a few snatches of lyrics but it was difficult. the song made mentions of yuletide, in the air, drawing near, sleighbells everywhere

any ideas on the identity of the song?!

I googled your clue words and came up with "Christmastime is Here". The version I found was by Sarah Mclachlan, but it is well known in the Peanuts Christmas show.

Thanks for that quick answer Eng teach! That is almost certainly the song, though I've not yet found the exact artist who performed it on the clip I heard.

We're one step nearer, all the same!
It was quite beautiful sung by Sarah Mclachlan.
