A lot of our foreign visitors come here hoping to catch a glimpse of our royals. Also our historic castles and museums are crowd pullers they bring a lot of revenue into London. They also do a lot of Charity work and official openings, and are our best embassadors abroad. (Prince Flipflop aside).

You can't blame Prince William if he wants to live away from the barracks, the same as other officers who also live off camp. It is just regrettable that he has to have security. We had a similar thread last night, I suggested then that the ridiculous amount of security for Tony Blair and others who are not in government now should be dropped a saving could be made there for a start.

probably much the same as for the Obamas' children. Security is just one of the unavoidable expenses of modern life - unless you want to leave the likes of Raoul Moat free to take potshots at them.

Yes guess your right ...
I suggest they make up the 1.4 million a year , by taking some police off the streets or shut a hospital ward. Guess the Royals are good value for money ...

Guess they are tourist attractions as well.
They also do a lot for charity and open supermarkets.
