Does anyone know of a good free registry cleaner. I found one called RegCure, but not sure if it is safe to dowload. I'm having problems with my screen freezing so think that maybe the problem. I use CCleaner but other than that no sure what to do. Would be grateful for advice.

Best advice you'll get all night.....

CCleaner is one of the best, it only makes very limited changes to the registry..

Leave the registry alone, it really makes very very marginal difference to the speed of your computer and can cause far more harm than good.
OK rant about people being overly concerned about the registry for everything over :)

What do you mean "screen freezing"? it's more likely to be spyware (or bloody google toolbar if you've recently uninstalled that!!)

Thanks for replying ChuckFickens -
My computer is'nt slow, but after a while it just freezes and won't operate, usually when I've been on the internet for a while. I have to bring in task manager to solve it but sometimes that doesn't work and I have to just switch off so I thought it may be a registry problem. Regards.

When I try to close a screen sometimes only part of it will close and the rest just sticks there and wont move. Do you know what the cause might be?
I tried RegCure, ONCE. I spent some time on various forums to get fixes for the things it damaged. I have never touched it again

Thanks scotman - I'll avoid that programme then. Still haven't worked out the problem though! Maybe computer worn out like me!
Try Malware Bytes (free version) and Combofix (not Vista) - they fix a LOT of problems. I'm assuming that you have effective anti-virus (AVG?) and antispyware (Spybot?) as well a Ad-Aware.
