Yesterday Morning at 8'o'clock , Daniel, (10) Hayley (8) Matthew (6) and Emma-Lou (4 and an half!) Set up a table with some Organic vegetables they'd grown, in a lay by about half a mile from the farm. They'd made a sign themselves, and bagged up some veg, this is what they put out
4 splendid cabbages, 2 huge lovely looking cauliflowers, 4 3lb bags of New Potatoes, 4 3lb bag of lovely cooking onions, 4 bags of 4 courgettes, 4 bunches of carrots still with the green frond-y tops on, and six 1lb punnets of strawberries, some big bunches of mint, coriander and basil . They left an honesty box at the side asking people to just pay what they thought was fair. Driving them down last tea time (about 6 ish) I was ready with some 'life is full of hard knocks' stories expecting the stuff to have mostly been stolen. Everything had gone, somebody had written 'lovely stuff kids, well done!' on their notice, and there was £21.07 in the honesty box - I only wished I'd had a camera, their little faces lit up and they were so happy!

Fine DEN, there's a Macdonalds up the road so we could have a Drive through meal while you're here. The place needs demolishing anyway....ha ha ha

Oh my god, there are still nice honest people in the world. What a nice thing for the kids to have experienced. Love this story!

Because for once, mercia and suzey, it is a nice thread to read and, I believe, in the true spirit of AB. May we have many more of them!
Evening ttfn. That was a nice story about the children Mercia, it will have given them something to remember, not everyone rips you off. Well worth the stickey.

I imagine you would recognise Mercia by the big food hamper she has with her. lol
Or by all those faithful 4-legs she dotes on! Evening gran.
Talking about honesty ..... One morning I left my house in North Yorkshire at 8.30am and drove to see my family in East Yorkshire. I returned home in the early evening to find that I'd not shut my front door properly. It had not locked and it was wide open.

I have no idea how long it had been swinging open, but possibly all day at it was a windy day.

No-one had been in. Nothing had been taken. What's even more remarkable is that I had seven budgies perched on my curtain pole in the hall, and not one of them had flown away!

This sounds like a tall story but I can promise you, hand on heart, it is all true.
Nice story and well done those kids - they'll go far in life.
