Has anyone used a will writer instead of going to solicitor, they seem very popular at the moment, but worry about finding the right one.

No but I bought one of those lawpack do it yourself wills from Staples and it seems to have done the trick. My family solicitor would have charged £100 and I paid about £15. It`s ok if one`s estate is simple and straight forward. My friend paid a will writer that put a flyer through her door and they charged to write the will and keep it in their vaults. Being the scatty person she is, she has lost her copy and can`t remember the details of the company she used so she doesn`t know where her will is.
Will writer or a solicitor should charge you around £100 for a will no more than £200 including VAT where applicable. Will writers such as Maximum Inheritance tend to be specialists in this area of the law - just like conveyancers only deal with a particular section of law. Solicitors tend to be more generalist.
