Is there a way to sort the order in excel 2007 without including A, The, and so on. It does it in various media players so does anyone know if there's a way to do it in excel 2007.
I know I could put these words at the end to solve the problem, but don't want to do that.

Not expert enough to know, but I think my solution woud be to duplicate the column, do macro change on it to replace 'start with a' and 'start with the', with nothing, and then sort on the result.

You sound like more of an expert than me. I don't really know about macros, but I'll do some research. Thanks.
Oh control H gives you replace, and you can select a column to work on beforehand.
Just thinking out loud.
Should have written global rather than macro I suppose.

Ah, I know what you mean. I was hoping to keep all the 'The's in though without deleting them. That way would also delete the words if there were in the middle of a sentence.
Not if you duplicate the column first to work on, and can find a replace symbol that means "start". Not saying one exists, just that, that is how I'd go about trying to solve it.
Or you may be able to copy into your favourite text editior to remove the 'start a' and 'start the', then paste it back into your duplicated column.
