you may have downloaded "something" but have you run it? I'd suggest trying to find where it's downloaded to, and see if it needs to be run to finish installing.
Was it the Windows Media Plugin?
Hi seekeerz
Install IE8 and you wont have any more problems as it has all the features that work
Firefox is notorios for this I wont use it and can't understand why people do

Firefox is not a problem for me.
I also had the same problems, so since I uninstalled it everything is fine, I have IE8.
Seekerz, I know you've been watching the ospreys - if you go onto that site there's a bit above the blog which tells you that you need certain things to view on firefox or google chrome. Just click on that and it'll download what you need x
when you download some programs like Adobe & Flash you need to switch off & on again for the new program to work.
If you're experiencing difficulties watching streamed videos with Firefox it's almost certainly due to the Adobe Flash Plug-in. If it's not functioning properly (as sometimes happens) any attempt to download it fails because your PC thinks that it's already there.

However the solution is easy. Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Uninstall the Adobe Flash Player Plug-in. Restart your PC. (That might not strictly be necessary but I'd advise it anyway). Then download Flash Player from here:

Thank you all for your replies - I'm sorry I didn't get back to my question but the dear thing decided to drop my internet access - I will work through the suggestions and report back later

Yes Karen, it was the ospreys - and when I checked first I had no problems - then I loaded Firefox and that was that - haven't been able to check since.
Seekerz, on this page

above the webcam bit and the osprey blog is this paragraph -

Are you using Google Chrome or Firefox as your browser? If you are, you may need to download a plug-in to view Windows Media Player properly. Download the Google Chrome or Firefox plug-in.

Click on Firefox and it will download the correct plug-in x
