It's my wife's birthday this Sunday. We've just had a baby girl and most of my ideas seem to lean towards her (ie, happy baby, happy mummy...). I'm taking her out for a meal, but would like to get her something special aswell. Any suggestions most welcome!

Take her to a jewellers and choose something together to commemorate your first year together as parents and to show her that she is special.
Or how about a treat at a day spa... maybe get her some vouchers and she can choose her own treatments.

Definately jewellery! If she's just had a baby she needs to know that you still see, love and want her in her own right. I'd buy something as a surprise though.  And something expensive if you can stretch to it.  And some lovely flowers. .... can you tell i'm just drifting off into my own fantasy now ;o)

All the above sound good - but whatever you do DO NOT buy your wife a present for the baby. It's a def NO NO.

I would also have suggested beauty salon vouchers, your wife could then chose to have either an Indian head massage (divine), a manicure, pedicure or whatever else takes her fancy.

As FP has said, I would also chose a small item of jewellery as a surprise & to be opened at the restaurant table (romantic).

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl & have a wonderful day together on your wife's birthday.

If it was a big baby, i suggest a good cushion !!

jewellery is a good idea but hand made is better than shop bought

I like the jewellery idea, but I've done it before... and I've done the beauty salon voucher before too. I would do it again as she does really enjoy them, but she's pretty much tied to Amy Lou at the moment and wouldn't be able to get away for long. And while she was away, she'd be worrying about her anyway lol.

Had another idea.. New mobile phone. One with a good camera so she can get some good pics of Amy... only problem is she doesn't take her current mobile anywhere with her usually...

O'Bonio, New mobile ain't romantic.

How about booking a studio session to get a really nice photo of the three of you - something you can look at every day of your life?

Don't forget to get a present FROM the baby though! And a Happy Birthday Mummy card!
Yes, perhaps the Amy Lou could buy her the mobile phone.

LOL.. this ain't gonna be cheap!

Definitely like the idea of having some pro photos done... but that's for all of us and not just Mrs Obonio... I dunno, you women are a nightmare ;o)
Arrange for Mrs OBonio to have some glamourous photos taken on her own.  I don't mean glamour magazine photos, I mean the sort where they do your make up and hair and you wear a beautiful dress and take the photo to make you look like a film star (although I expect she does anyway).   You and baby OBonio could join her for a couple of the shots.

How about some nice undies? everybody likes new undies...

You could buy a really nice photo album and put a few pics in of you and your wife, maybe one from your wedding and then one or two of your baby when she was born and then leave lots of space for her to add to it.

Buy her some of her favourite perfume or a crystal vase and some flowers to go with it.

Or you could buy her lots of little presents and give her them throughout the day maybe say if she's 20 get her 20 presents. Me to you bear, small bottle of perfume, a single red rose, write her a poem, earrings, a cd of romantic music, chocolates, pampering things like bath milk, candles and aromatherapy oil, massage oil so you could give her a massage.

Love the suggestion about photo shoot for the three of you, don't think it matters that it's not just for Mrs O.  Or, other than the mobile, how about a digital camera.

I still think jewellery is the best idea.  I know you have given it before, but there is such a wide range available and it's so nice to have.  Your choice may be a bit limited by where you live, but most towns and cities have independent designers tucked away somewhere so you could get something that was a one off, or really unusual, rather than the more standard items. If you explained to the person in the shop that you want something special they quite often produce other pieces not usually on display.  If you haven't given one already eternity rings are often given on the birth of a child.

You'd better tell us what you got!?

i like the underwear idea, her body has probably changed quite a bit but she'll still want to feel sexy, i suggest something that covers the stomach, & shows off the cleavage, and some frilly shorts for the bottom (not  a thong!!) try selfridges, you'll find lots of brands in one department, i recommend Myla or Mimi Holiday. whatever you end up choosing...GOOD LUCK!
