We had a new sales tax hit us here in Ontario on July 1st. Just got a haircut and it cost $13 (8.04GBP), and a tip of $1. What do you guys pay for a haircut? I mean at a barber shop; not one of these fancy-dancy hair salooooons.

£10 in barbers across the street. Used to be £12 nearer the town centre.
£8 last Monday

Not really much difference then. Barber shops seem to be dying out over here. People want their hair styled, not cut. Of course I don't have much to style:)
The cheapest haircut I can get is £14, and that's when my mum's friend cuts it in the house!

Women always get charged more anyway, don't they, Karen.
I know, and it's so unfair! My hair is all the one length so the hairdresser just has to go round the bottom and trim it, whereas a man will want it cutting all over - a much more difficult and timely procedure if you ask me!
OH pays £9, I paid £27 last time for a cut and blow-dry....
Slightly off topic, but I've just worked out that on the Main Street of my town (which is quite a small town) there are 8 hairdressers/barbers shops - there's only one clothes shop in the whole town!!!!!!

all become well groomed naturists
Number 2 costs me £5. It should be more but I've had the same barber for over 20 years. He said it's a special "loyal customer" rate!
