Hi all, I have lots of blackfly on some of my Nasturtium plants, I have tried a pesticide spray which isn't helping much, I have been told to spray with soapy water, do they mean washing up liquid and water? and if so what sort of ratio of liquid to water please, and finally does it work?.............be grateful for any advise...........TIA

no it really means soap lux flakes or a bit of cheap hand soap grated into the water and shaken until it dissolves or just pick off and bin the worse affected bits and grow them 'harder' next year, you can blast them off with the hose as well
Washing up liquid is useful though if you add some to the pesticide if helps it 'stick' to the bugs and makes it more effective by breaking down their protective 'coating'
Weak cold tea often works
