They are indeed, which makes how we sometimes treat them even more dispicible.

The mother of the little girl was saying Shirley even wakes her up in the night, and goes and fetches the emergency kit containing her medicine, sugar drinks etc when she thinks it neccessary
We have two Irish Wolfhounds and a little Shih-Tzu called Sammy. He detected the onset of my partner's daughter's epileptic seizure before she knew she was going to have one. She was in the kitchen downstairs and he came running upstairs to me to allert me in his special way. Other times he has gone and allerted my partner when I have felt unwell and me when my mum has been poorly. He has never been trained to do any of this. When my partner came out of hospital after an op recenlty, our Wolfies were so careful and gentle around him, sensing that he was in pain. Yes, Shirley is a wonderful dog and amazing at what she does for that little girl. There are many dogs out there who are extremely perceptive to human conditions. We are so lucky to have them as our best friends and should always treat them as such!
