The nine o'clock horses

I was 'encouraged' to bed when young by the threat of being taken away by the nine o'clock horses if I wasn't in bed by nine o'clock. Gave me nightmares. Anyone else remember this?

10 o'clock horses where I lived and yes I was petrified....I was also threatened with Nanny-Nun. I still quake everytime I see a Nun, which thankfully, is not very often

I dont know, I could'nt tell the time, I was so young. It could have been 7 o'clock when they took me to bed but they always said if I didnt go to sleep the 10 o'clock horses would get me
