Don't know if there is any connection, but when I turned my laptop on yesterday, it made a loud grating sound.
Everything seemed to work OK but I have noticed that I no longer have any sound.
Has anybody any idea as to what might have happened.
I have a Acer 5315, wireless connection and am on Vista
Thanks in anticipation

It could be a problem with the sound driver. Download it from here
http://support.acer-e...notebook/as_5315.html
(It's the 'Audio Realtek' one)
Unzip the file then double-click on it to reinstall it.

Chris, thanks for that, but it doesn't seem to have worked. Have you any more suggestions please?

Chris, problem now solved. I discovered the headphones I was using were faulty. I ought to have thought of that first. Thanks anyway.
