Is there a possibility i can purchase the whole box set from America anywhere and will it play on my DVD Player?

You don't have to purchase it from America - you can get it from a UK based etailer like http://www.playusa.com/

 

Whether it will play on your player depends on if your player can play Region 1 discs.

Also, if your DVD player is region 2 only, you can get this DVD that you put in before you watch your film and select region 1, they cost about �15 & i got mine from HMV. I watch my DVD's on a playstation 2 which doesn't have region 1 so its really useful.

Most DVD players are fairly easy to set to all regions, dependant on brand. Post your brand/model and someone may be able to help. Most of the �30 jobbies on sale in your local supermarket will play all regions straight out of the box.
